From its earliest mention in 4500-year-old Sumerian tablets, soap has been made in an unbroken tradition in the Mediterranean region, the area being world-renowned for its production of olive oil and laurel bay extract. Because of their healthy effect on the skin, these natural ingredients are used generously in the soap-making process and have been appreciated by the peoples of this region for centuries.
Long ago, traders on the overland Silk Route and sailing into Levantine ports stocked up on soap just as visitors to the region do to this very day.
In keeping with this tradition, Senteurs d'Orient is dedicated to producing natural soap that is totally free of any bleaching agents or animal fat. All Senteurs d'Orient soaps are made with 100% vegetal oils and shea butter. To enhance the experience of bathing, only the best in essential oils are blended into each bar. The oils are extracted from carefully chosen plants, known for their unique aroma therapeutic properties.
