Visiting the department store holiday window displays...
Barneys New York, Bergdorf Goodman, Saks Fifth Avenue, and Macy’s are all famous for pulling out the stops when it comes to lavish holiday window displays. Bring your friends along and gaze longingly at sumptuous gowns and lust-worthy heels. (And be sure to check out the nighttime light show at Saks!)

Ice-skating at Bryant Park...
With perfect views of the New York Public Library (and the glittery midtown skyline), ice-skating at the Winter Village at Bryant Park is an event not to be missed. Bonus points for free admission - however, skate rentals come at an extra fee.
-
Seeing the Rockefeller Plaza Christmas Tree...
Battle the crowds to get a glimpse of the massive tree towering above Rockefeller Plaza. Trust us, pictures don’t do it justice. (How they even transport it into Manhattan continues to be a source of mystery for us.)
-
Strolling through the outdoor holiday markets...
Union Square, Bryant Park, Columbus Circle, Williamsburg…New York City definitely knows how to put on a good outdoor holiday market. Whether you’re looking for artisanal candles, handmade tree ornaments, or a festive holiday cookie, you can find all those things - and more - at charming local vendors’ booths.

Sipping on hot apple cider...
There’s no better time than the holiday season to enjoy a cup of warm, spiced apple cider. Make your own by boiling water, apples cinnamon, and allspice or grab a cup at a café with friends and family.
